Governor JB Pritzker is extending his stay-at-home order until the end of April. Pritzker’s original order took effect on March 21 and was set to expire April 7. The measure designed to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus will keep schools and many businesses closed through April 30.
The extension of the stay-at-home order follows the most recent update showing 930 new cases and 26 more deaths of those confirmed to have the coronavirus in Illinois. The deaths include an 84-year-old man in Jacksonville reported Monday and a man in his 70s in McLean County. Ford and Ogle counties are the latest to report cases with COVID-19 now found in 54 of the state’s 102 counties.
A 14th case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Christian County. The latest case is the 13th resident of the Rolling Meadows Senior Living Apartments in Taylorville to contract the virus. One of the residents who had been hospitalized has been released and has been quarantined. The other hospitalized resident remains in the Memorial Medical Center intensive care unit in Springfield in critical condition.
Congressmen Rodney Davis and Darin LaHood say Springfield has been allocated nearly $800,000 in funding through the Coronavirus Air, Relief and Economic Security, or CARES Act. The grants are flexible funding to address impacts of COVID-19 .
