THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Wednesday evening 1/15/2025 at around 10:30 p.m. members of the Danville Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Unit attempted to stop a subject in the 100 block of Harvey St. Officers were familiar with the subject and knew he was a juvenile out past Danville City Ordinance Curfew hours and walking in the middle of the road.
The 17-year-old juvenile ran from officers and was eventually caught and placed into custody. During the pursuit and investigation officers recovered an illegal firearm. The firearm was also found to be reported stolen.
The juvenile was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon possessing it under the age of 21, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Obstructing a Peace Officer, along with the Curfew violation. He was taken to the Vermilion County Juvenile Detention Center to be held for court.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all subjects arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
