THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Wednesday evening 1/15/2025 at around 7:30 p.m. Danville Police Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of N. Bowman Ave. and E. Williams St. for an equipment violation.
The driver was identified as 30-year-old Dejanerha Barrett of Danville and the passenger was identified as 36-year-old Marcus T. Johnson of Danville. Because Barrett’s Illinois driver’s license was suspended, she was arrested. Further investigation during the stop led officers to find an illegal firearm inside the vehicle that had been reported as stolen.
The circumstances and findings of their investigation led officers to arrest and charge Johnson with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Violation of Probation. Barrett was charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, and Driving while License Suspended.
Johnson and Barrett were transported to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building and booked on those charges.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all subjects arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
