Rivers said the one-time $1.4 million payment would would amount to a 50 percent reduction in the extra burden imposed by the renewal on individual and family premiums. He said it would only apply to union members and would not affect the insurance fund.
“We can’t keep decreasing benefits and raising premiums as high as we do every time,” he said. “Our insurance is good insurance still. Our premiums obviously are high. But it’s a big thing here in District 118 to have good insurance, especially with the staff shortages that we see.”
- The board heard a proposal to have the 2025 Danville High graduation ceremony on May 24 at the football field, with a rain date of May 25 at the David S. Palmer Arena, and the 2025 Step Up eighth-grade promotion ceremony on May 27 at the high school.
- The board also approved moving its regular March meeting, set for the 19th, a week earlier to March 12 because of spring break.
