MATTESON, ILL. – In Matteson, Illinois, Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) was sworn in for her sixth full term representing the Second Congressional District of Illinois. Following testimonies from constituents, the Honorable Justice Cynthia Cobbs administered the Oath of Office to the Congresswoman. Rep. Kelly delivered a State of the District, sharing challenges and opportunities in the new Congress.
“I’m fighting for a future free of gun violence, where our daughters can make choices about their own bodies, and where healthcare is affordable. One constant remains: the people of the Second District serve as my north star. Their input and ideas help chart the course for a better future for our community. Rep. Kelly has dedicated her career to public service as an advocate for Illinois families. As the co-chair of the powerful Steering & Policy Committee, she is the highest-ranking Black woman appointed to Democratic Leadership.
Since being elected to serve the 2nd Congressional District in 2013, Rep. Kelly has worked to expand economic opportunity, community wellness, and public safety across the state, championing numerous initiatives to generate job growth, reduce health disparities, and end gun violence.
