DANVILLE –Danville Area Community College (DACC) invites the community to celebrate the rich legacy of African American musicians at the Black History Sounds Concert on Tuesday, February 18. This free event is open to all and promises a night of powerful performances, vibrant music, and community spirit.
The evening will kick off with a happy hour at 6 p.m., featuring a cash bar with beer and wine hosted by Vermilion River Beer Company. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in Bremer theater, where attendees can enjoy a club-like atmosphere complete with lights and blasting sound.
The spotlight performance of the night will feature Ther’Up.Y, a dynamic group of artists including Natalya Bourn, La Jason Parker, Lamont Davis, and Aaron “Aplus” Wilson. Additional acts include Amy Mitchell and the Bookends, Alexis Simmons, and the DACC Pep Band, offering a diverse mix of musical styles.

“This will be an immersive experience where the audience can truly feel the music,” said Michael “Guido” Esteves, DACC Community Engagement Director, who is planning the event. “Get ready for a night of music, lights, and energy!”
This high-energy celebration will showcase the many contributions of African American artists to the world of music, blending genres and generations for an unforgettable evening.
