Early voting has begun for the April 1s Consolidated Election. And some of the races will be interesting to watch. Bill Pickett explains…
For example there are seven candidates vying for three seats each on the Westville, Oakwood, and Rossville Village Boards.
In Hoopeston, incumbent mayor Jeff Wise is being challenged by Tracy Carter. There is also a two-way race for mayor in Georgetown where Darren Alexander and Darin R. Readnour are seeking the spot.
There are five candidates running for two seats on the Danville Area Community College Board. Names on the ballot in that race include Lisa A. Martin, Gregory Allen Wolfe, Aaron Biggs, Laura M. Williams, and Amanda Krabbe.
Vermilion County Clerk Cathy Jenkins notes offices to be voted on include:
Township Supervisor, Clerk, Highway Commissioner, Trustees, Assessors, City/Village Mayor or President, Commissioner, Alderman or Trustee, Park District Trustees, Public Library District Trustees, Regional Board of Education Trustees, School Board Members, Fire Protection District Trustees, and Community College District Trustees.
You can vote early in the County Clerk’s Office located on the first floor at the Joseph G. Cannon Building if you live outside the Danville City limits. Those living inside Danville vote at the Danville Election Commission Office located on the south end of the Cannon Building.
Voter registration is also continuing for the April 1st Consolidated Election. Grace Period registration begins March 5th, 2025. During Grace Period you must register and vote at the same time.
If you enrolled in permanent vote by mail, you should receive your ballot soon. The last day vote by mail ballots can be mailed to voters is March 27, 2025.
