THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE RELEASE
DANVILLE – Danville Area Community College (DACC) Barbering School is excited to announce its inaugural FREE Haircut Open House, taking place this Friday, February 28, 2025, at its facility at the Danville Village Mall. This special event is open to the public on a walk-in basis and operates on a first-come, first-served model, offering community members the opportunity to receive a professional haircut performed by our talented students.
The event will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with final services beginning at 3:15 PM. Attendees will receive haircuts only; please note that shaves, color, or designs will not be offered. All services will be performed by students who have reached the 200-hour mark, indicating that they are now ready to further practice their skills in our state-of-the-art clinic.
In addition to barbering services, DACC staff will be on hand to answer questions about this and other programs. Registration for the summer and fall semesters at DACC will begin in April.
The Barbering School welcomed its first group of students on January 21, 2025, and offers two flexible educational paths: a two-semester certificate program or a four-semester Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Barbering. Classes are conducted Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at our Village Mall location. Under the expert guidance of Terry Gouard, a licensed instructor and experienced barber shop owner, the curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning in a real-world setting. The program has no prerequisites and is eligible for financial aid, making it accessible to anyone interested in pursuing a career in barbering.
The Village Mall location features a modern classroom for instruction as well as a 14-station barber clinic where students will gain invaluable real-world experience by working with actual clients. This hands-on approach not only benefits the students but also enhances community engagement by providing quality service and supporting the next generation of skilled barbers.
