Danville Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. says there are entirely too many people out running around during the current health emergency.
‘’We are supposed to be a light unto the rest of the world, but if we are unnecessarily putting lives at risk, we’re only bringing darkness,’’ said the Mayor in a post on Facebook. ‘’This is not a matter of faith over fear, rather this is using the common sense the good Lord gave us,’’ added Mayor Williams.
The Mayor says it is unacceptable to be holding drive-in church or prayer caravans, BBQ or house parties, getting together to drink and play cards, or shoot hoops with your neighbors. And the Mayor added getting together with friends, letting your kids run around Walmart or your teens shop for non-necessities at Meijer, or even going to hang out with your mother is not acceptable. ‘’It’s all in this same context and it’s unacceptable,’’ said the Mayor.
‘’You’re tired of being stuck at home, and I get it because so am I,’’ said the Danville Mayor, ‘’but how many people must get sick or die before you take this seriously?’’ Please do not leave your house unless you’re getting food, medicine, going to work or for a walk, and do not congregate with people you don’t currently live with,’’ added the Mayor.
