Danville School District 118 has scheduled another food distribution for all students in the district on Tuesday (April 7, 2020).
It will occur at Danville High School from 10:00 a.m. until noon, and will again be a non-contact distribution. It means everyone should stay in their vehicles as they drive up to the high school to get the free food.
The distribution will occur along Jackson Street on the west side of the high school. Motorists participating are asked to enter Jackson Street at Williams and proceed north. Danville Police will be present to assist with traffic.
In addition to the food being distributed at Danville High School on Tuesday, Superintendent Alicia Geddis says District 118 is continuing its pilot program with McDonald’s. She announced over the weekend in a letter to the District 118 Family that another meal card for the McDonald’s Pilot Program has been mailed to students. With the new card, students will be able to receive two pre-packaged breakfasts and two pre-packaged lunches each week for the next four weeks from the three Danville area McDonald’s restaurants. Students or parents are asked to hang onto the cards since they cannot be duplicated.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Geddis says teachers have posted learning assignments for students. Remote learning plans have begun as teachers continue to reach out to students and parents to make sure they are alright. The Illinois State Board of Education has indicated the mandatory closure of the state’s school buildings will continue through April 30th. Staff is available via email this week from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
