Danville Area Community College has announced the 2020 Commencement is being postponed due to the COVID 19 emergency.
Students will still graduate, but the date for the graduation ceremony is yet to be determined according to a notice distributed by the college. It said President Stephen Nacco, the Board of Trustees, faculty and staff at DACC are committed to finding a way to commemorate the achievements of graduates with a Commencement ceremony.
The notice said several options are being discussed at this time, including moving the ceremony to a date later this summer ‘’when the risk of this pandemic has eased and we are free to safely gather in large groups again.’’ The majority of Danville Area Community College graduates live locally, so the notice said that seems like a viable alternative. But the date will remain unknown until the college has received the all-clear from government and health officials.
The statement released by the college added: Please know that we look forward to celebrating with our graduates and their families. We know that this is a significant moment in your lives.’’ The college promised Danville Area Community College will reach out with more information when it becomes available.
