A Mahomet man has died from injuries suffered when his bicycle was struck by a semi-tractor-trailer on Saturday (April 3, 2020). Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup says 46-year-old David Powell died Monday afternoon at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
The Coroner says Powell’s death was from injuries he received during the accident. Powell was reportedly riding his bicycle northbound along Illinois route 47 in Mahomet when he was struck by the passing semi-tractor-trailer, according to the Coroner. Illinois State Police and the Champaign County Coroner’s Office are investigating the tragedy.
