The latest daily COVID-19 update for Illinois reports 1,529 new cases with 82 additional deaths. The state reports a total of 15,078 cases with 462 deaths. Stark County reported its first case to bring the number of counties with the novel coronavirus to 78. Among the six deaths outside the Chicagoland area are a Macon County man in his 80s and a Tazewell County woman in her 80s.
Two more officers at Logan Correctional Center have tested positive for COVID-19 as four officers and one inmate there have now been confirmed with the novel coronavirus. A staff member at Menard Correctional Center was confirmed to have COVID-19 Wednesday, and a staff member at Danville Correctional Center was confirmed with the coronavirus on Monday.
State agencies are allowing remote notarization for real estate closings and related financial transactions during the stay-at-home order. A notary public physically within Illinois is allowed to use two-way audio and video communication for the transactions.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security announced employers will not face penalties for late filing of February wage reports. Those reports were due March 31. IDES asks employers to file the reports as soon as possible since they will help determine unemployment benefits for any of their laid-off or furloughed workers.
