Owners of some Danville liquor establishments who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic are going to get some relief. One of them, Michael Gregory, asked Tuesday that bars be allowed to re-open to sell their inventory.
Mayor Rickey Williams says with a temporary allowance by Governor Pritzker, the City of Danville will allow certain liquor establishments to sell their existing stock of pre-packaged liquor via curbside pickup. (The temporary ruling applies to Danville businesses with Class A, AA, B, E, Q, R, and W Liquor Licenses. Owners of those businesses have until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2020, to submit a list of their current inventory to mayor@cityofdanville.org. On Friday and Saturday, April 10th and 11th, and again on April 17th and 18th, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., the businesses will be allowed to sell their remaining stock of pre-packaged liquor via curbside pickup.
The Mayor says customers should call ahead to prepare their orders. And you must remain in your vehicle while picking up your order. Customers will not be allowed to go inside the businesses or congregate outside them.
The bars had been forced to close last month because of the COVID-19 emergency. Alderman Mike Puhr noted Tuesday that a lot of bars had stocked up for St. Patrick’s Day that didn’t happen.
