DANVILLE — When 18-year-old Aniyah Davis was shot and killed last month at Winter Park, her similarly aged friends couldn’t believe she was gone so young.
Danville teens say too many people, especially younger residents, are dying from gun violence, and they want the city and others to do more to prevent it.
That’s what prompted “Voices For Change: A Youth-Led Town Hall on Gun Violence,” set for 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Danville’s Laura Lee Fellowship House.
Twenty-year-old Chase Clark, who has helped to organize the public event, will moderate the panel of speakers. He’ll be a junior at the University of Illinois this fall, enrolled in the College of ACES’ public policy and law program.
