DANVILLE, IL. (August 20, 2025) Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its new Danville branch, marking an exciting expansion into Vermilion County! To celebrate this milestone, the credit union is hosting a grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony, and everyone is welcome! Participating in the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be Vermilion Advantage chamber of commerce staff, chamber businesses, local dignitaries, and GLCU leadership.

Join GLCU for a fun-filled afternoon as the credit union welcomes the community with a live radio broadcast with DJ Tommy B from D102, free food from T&G BBQ Food Truck, giveaways, raffle prizes, and games. To aid the community in preventing identity theft and fraud, GLCU will also have a shred truck onsite to safely and securely destroy personal and financial documents.

As testament to its tagline, the credit union will have several nonprofits at the event to provide attendees with information about their services, including the Boys & Girls Club of Danville and Ambucs. Additionally, representatives of GLCU’s family of companies are attending, including The GLCU Foundation for Financial Empowerment, as well as Mortgage Forward, LLC.
What’s more, their featured partner, The Dwelling Place of Vermilion County, which advocates for the homeless or those at risk of homelessness, will be onsite as well. GLCU is encouraging community members to bring in a list of much needed items to the event to help The Dwelling Place.
GLCU’s grand opening celebration signifies GLCU’s commitment to the Danville community and its mission to empower communities financially. The event is free and all are welcome.
