OSF HealthCare is expanding is digital response presence to help care for COVID-19 patients in the Danville and Champaign-Urbana areas. Pandemic Health Workers (PHWs) will digitally allow clients invited into the program – experiencing COVID-19 symptoms – to stay at home or in quarantine.
”The PHW program will allow us to fulfill our mission of serving with the greatest care and love by utilizing digital technology and trained compassionate, trusted pandemic health workers to provide support to individuals where they are most comfortable, in their own homes,’ said Dr. Jared Rogers. He is the Regional President of OSF HealthCare Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville and OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana.
A person is eligible for the PHW Program if he or she is showing COVID-19 symptoms, or is at high risk for contracting the virus, but does not require emergency or inpatient care, and can be digitally monitored at home. They must first call the COVID-19 Nurse Hotline at
833-OSF-KNOW and be triaged by a nurse.
”I am so proud OSF HealthCare is leading the way with digital solutions to allow us to care for individuals where they are, possibly preventing them from needing to seek care at one of our hospitals,” added Dr. Rogers.
