Vermilion County Animal Control Director Ryan Goodner says a unanimous 6-0 vote from the Vermilion County Board Health and Education Committee Thursday evening (Sept 18th) brings the shelter closer to putting in a new spay and neuter surgical suite, in their existing “vet room” at the shelter on Catlin-Tilton Road.
The Health and Education Committee had first heard the proposal on August 20th, before taking the vote Thursday night. Next up, in October, the proposal will go before the County Board Property Committee, and then to the full Vermilion County Board.
Goodner says the first priority once the surgical suite is in operation would be for the shelter’s backlog of foster care animals; before then opening the low cost spay and neuter facility to the community.
