Firefighters and family crowded the Danville City Council Chambers Tuesday morning (Sept 23rd) as Firefighter Broc Atwood was promoted to Lieutenant, and Lieutenant David Jones was promoted to Captain.

Lieutenant Atwood and Captain Jones are sworn in by Mayor Williams.
After the ceremony, Lieutenant Atwood talked about the importance of his family
AUDIO: Without my family, I wouldn’t even be able to do this job. So, I appreciate everything they do for me. And the fact that they have my back, makes it even better when I come to work with my Fire Department family.

Captain Jones talked afterwards about why he said this promotion was not just for him, but for all the Danville firefighters.
AUDIO: It’s all about the guys that I’ve worked with, and the ladies that I’ve worked with. Not just for me, it’s about all of us; because I think of all of us as a team, so….

The Danville Fire promotions were the first half of a City Hall double-header, as it was followed by a pair of Danville Police Department promotions.
