THE FOLLOWING IS A VETERANS ASSISTANCE COMMISSION RELEASE
The Veterans Assistance Commission will hold a special meeting to discuss the review and revision of the By Laws, as well as the adaptation and adoption of the Vermilion County Personnel Policies on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 5:00PM at the office located at 123 N Hazel Street, Danville, IL 61832
The Veterans Assistance Commission of Vermilion County (VACVC) was formed by the Veterans Organizations with Posts or Detachments situated in Vermilion County in 2019 and funded to operate beginning in Fiscal Year 2020. Although funded by Illinois Law, Illinois Compiled Statutes Chapter 330, Section 45/1, et seq. through Property Tax Levy of the County of Vermilion, the VACVC is a separate and distinct unit of local government, authorized to function as a central service office of the Veterans Organization for the purpose of assisting military Veterans and their eligible family members with navigating the process of accessing benefits at the local, state, and federal levels.
The VACVC offers non-financial assistance to ANY Veteran which may include information on Veterans Administration benefits, referral, and advocacy to other service agencies.
Eligibility for Temporary Financial Assistance includes Vermilion County residency, 180+ days of active duty service, financial qualification and other criteria established by the VACVC. Application is required including supporting evidence.
