Danville Firefighters are among the first in this region to undergo a recently-approved rapid-testing screening for COVID-19 Coronavirus.
Phoenix Paramedic Solutions has been administering the test on-site at Danville’s Griffin Street fire station late this week.
The test involves a small finger prick for blood, and once it’s done the results are known within ten to fifteen minutes. ‘’Onsite screening to determine who actually has COVID-19 takes some of the pressure off hospital emergency rooms and health departments,’’ said Nate Metz, president of Phoenix Paramedics Solutions. The tests results also help relieve worries of the firefighters who certainly do not want to take COVID-19 Coronavirus home to their wives, husbands, children, parents and others.
Danville Firefighters learned about the newly-approved test through a contact with the Indianapolis Fire Department. The test checks for anti-bodies in the blood. It was approved recently by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to expedite the diagnostic testing for COVID-19.
Danville Firefighters have been taking extra precautions as they respond to medical calls ever since the Coronavirus pandemic began.
