Perhaps it could be called the final chapter, or the “coda” for COVID ARPA relief funding in Danville. Because some other projects from ARPA allocations have some money left over, Danville can apply that extra funding to “open, existing projects.” Danville’s Public Works Committee has forwarded to the full City Council the spending of about $900,000; with approximately half going to a couple stormwater projects and the other approximate half to helping complete work at Garfield Park. Director of Public Works Dave Ruwe explains the Garfield Park plans.
AUDIO: With approval next week, we will see this progress being done, around Garfield Park on the roads. We will start seeing that progress, probably after winter; at this point it’s late enough in the season, as long as it’s done by the end of 2026. It’ll be the roads, and then the sidewalk; and the only other thing would be the basketball court coatings.

Meanwhile, Public Works has also forwarded to the full council the acceptance of a $75,000 grant from Ameren for electronic transportation development; to be used in the future. Ruwe explains.
AUDIO: We just have to figure out what we want to do at this point; and that can sit and wait for us to decide the best use of those funds.
Ruwe stated that $75,000 would not be enough for one complete charging system, but that the grant could be used towards that or electronic vehicles in the future.
