The Champaign County Coroner reports a second person has died as the result of injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash in Vermilion County on Wednesday. Coroner Laurie Brauer says Patricia Hood, 52, of Danville died at Carle Hospital in Urbana at 3:26 p.m. Wednesday (October 15, 2025).
The crash along Illinois route one at 15th Street, at the north edge of Georgetown, also killed Michael L. Vermillion of Danville. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Vermilion County Sheriff’s Police and the Vermilion and Champaign County Coroners’ Offices are still investigating the crash which also left three other people hurt.
The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department says its preliminary investigation found that there were three vehicles traveling southbound on route one when the rear vehicle attempted to pass the middle one. The vehicle then rear-ended the front one before the vehicle that was passing crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a northbound vehicle head-on.
Again, the two people who have died from injuries received in the crash are 52-year-old Patricia Hood and 51-year-old Michael L. Vermillion. Both victims are from Danville.
