DANVILLE — A new venue and earlier summertime dates will be welcoming the return of Balloons Over Vermilion in 2026 for its 10th anniversary.
Event officials Monday morning announced that the 10th annual Balloons Over Vermilion hot air balloon festival will kick off next year’s fair and festival season.
The event will be June 5-6, instead of normally in July, at a new location — Kennekuk County Park instead of the Vermilion Regional Airport.
Officials state, “the milestone changes celebrate a decade of community fun and bring the festival full circle with a nostalgic nod to its predecessor, the Balloon Classic of the 1990s.”
Festival Co-Chair Carly Goodwin said, “We are very excited to celebrate a decade of delighted smiles as colorful hot air balloons fill the sky and light the night with dazzling balloon glows. Shifting to June gives our neighbors, friends and visitors another opportunity for extended family fun throughout the summer.”
