Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6. December 15: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Gardening event for children and families. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office. This month, we will be making a bird ornament! 4:30 PM in the Program Room.
December 16: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: BINGO! Come play Bingo and win prizes. 5:00 PM in the Program Room. Ages 8-12.
December 16: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under. Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room.
December 17: Teen Crafternoons. Stop by on Wednesday afternoons for an hour of fun, hands-on craft. This week: Nightmare Before Christmas Diamond Painting. No registration needed, just bring your creativity and hang out! 4:00 – 5:00 PM on the 2nd Floor. Ages 13-19.
December 17: Teen Writing Club. Come write, chill, and connect. No pressure – just good vibes, cool ideas, and a space to be creative. Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts and snacks to fuel your mind. Every Wednesday, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
December 17: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
December 18: Lit Fit with Mandy. Join us Thursdays for a dance fitness series that’s as fun as your favorite book. All fitness levels welcome – just bring your water bottle and wear clothes that can handle your best moves! 3:00 – 4:00 PM in the Program Room.
December 20: Bilingual Family Fun – Karaoke Holiday Party. Celebrate the holidays with Cecilia Perez and family singing festive karaoke in English and Spanish. Come enjoy music, laughter, and holiday cheer! All ages welcome. Fiesta de karaoke navideño! Celebra las fiestas con Cecilia Pérez y su familia cantando karaoke festivo en inglés y español. ¡Ven a disfrutar de música, risas y alegría navideña! Todas las edades son bienvenidas. 1:00 – 2:30 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
December 20: Sensory and Bilingual Story Adventures. A unique programming experience combining bilingual storytelling with sensory-friendly activities, designed to engage children of all abilities. This inclusive program creates a welcoming space where stories come to life through interactive elements, fostering language development and sensory exploration in a fun and supportive environment. Saturdays at 11:00 AM in the Children’s Department.
