Vermilion County will now get more money from the City of Danville for animal control. Bill Pickett has the story…
Jerry Hawker, chairman of the County Board’s Finance Committee, outlines provisions of the resolution approved by the board last night (Tuesday, December 9, 2025),
{AUDIO: “It’s going to bring us approximately $350-thousand (dollars) versus what had been being paid – about $90-thousand (dollars per year) for the county to provide services to the city for their animal control. It comes closer to making the actual expenses, and we appreciate it very much that the city has agreed to do that. We are also in negotiations – probably within six months – of completely re-doing the total intergovernmental agreement with the city.)
Hawker also noted it has been fourteen years since the county has reviewed what other communities are paying for using Animal Control services….
{AUDIO: “So, as we all know, expenses have changed a lot in the last fourteen years, so we will be looking at the villages. I know they don’t contribute a large amount towards the burden at the Animal Control in the number of animals. But we want it to be fair.]
Vermilion County Board members also declared a vacancy in District 2 following the resignation of board member Kevin Green.

He has served on the county board for twenty-one years.
And the board was again urged by Reverend Philip Jackson to explore the possibility of getting a small modular nuclear reactor for the county. Jackson represents Vermilion County Board District 5.
