DANVILLE — For about the past dozen years, students in the North Ridge Middle School Builders Club, led by adviser Kathy Delzell, have been participating in Wreaths Across America.
Laying wreaths at graves at Danville National Cemetery, as they will do Saturday, holds special meaning for Delzell, who has family buried there.
“It’s an important cause for me,” she said. “I try to share it with the kids.”
Some of the 13 seventh- and eighth-graders in the Builders Club will be laying wreaths at 11 a.m. Saturday as part of the nationwide event.
Delzell, who retired from teaching after 34.5 years, has spent the past 10 as a teaching assistant at North Ridge. This is the 30th year for the Builders Club, and she’s been its adviser for the 28 years she’s been at North Ridge.
