Although some gusty winds blew across Vermilion and surrounding counties Sunday and early today, our newsroom has received no reports of any significant damage. The area was under a severe thunderstorm warning for a while Sunday afternoon as a massive cold front swept through the area. It dropped temperatures from the mid-70s to the teens.
The Wind Advisory which was posted for our area has been canceled, with the exception of some counties in west-central Indiana. In that area the advisory was scheduled to expire at 5:00 p.m. EST Monday (December 29, 2025.
The rest of the week is expected to feel more like winter following the unseasonably mild conditions we have enjoyed lately.
Overnight low temperatures are expected to be mostly in the teens, with daytime highs ranging from the mid-20s to mid-30s this week. There is also a slight chance of light snow on Wednesday and Wednesday night (New Year’s Eve) according to the latest information from the National Weather Service. But New Year’s Day is expected to be mostly sunny and cold with a high only around 25 degrees.
