Members of the Vermilion County Board are expected to vote Tuesday evening on a proposal to expand the Danville/Vermilion County Enterprise Zone to include land near the Vermilion Regional Airport.
Also Tuesday evening the county board will welcome a new member. Eric Luttrell has been selected to serve as a new board member from District 2. He will fill the spot previously held by Kevin Green.
Some discussion is expected to occur before the vote on expanding the Enterprise Zone. County Board member Mark Steinbaugh told members of the Executive and Legislative Committee last week that he wanted more information on why the City of Danville changed some of the wording in the proposed agreement.
The area being proposed for inclusion in the Danville/Vermilion County Enterprise Zone is located northwest of the Vermilion Regional Airport…near West Newell Road at Bowman Avenue. The proposed expansion of the zone would allow for incentives for future development in that area. Those incentives would include property tax abatements on commercial or industrial projects amounting to 75-percent for 10 years. There would also be a 50-percent abatement on property taxes on new developments for years 11 through 15. The incentives would apply only in the expanded enterprise zone, and not in other areas where the zone already exists.
The county board meets at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in the Joseph G. Cannon Building at 201 North Vermilion Street in Danville.
