Coming up soon; Wednesday, January 21st and Thursday, January 22nd; the Vermilion County Trustee Program and Vermilion Advantage will be conducting their online auction of surplus and vacant land parcels.
During the January 13th Danville City Council Public Works Committee meeting, Community Development Administrator Logan Cronk said that the City of Danville has their eyes on 55 different properties, which contain about 30 existing structures. He says that how many the city could acquire remains to be seen.
AUDIO: Depending on the structure that the county allows for the city, to just acquire properties without attending the actual auction itself; that percentage will greatly depend on that answer. We don’t suspect that very many vacant lots in the auction will actually be sought after by the city of Danville. Probably 10 to 15.
Cronk explained during the Public Works Committee meeting that in order for the City of Danville to be able to continue to secure grants for tearing down dilapidated structures, the city needs to have the structures on hand and ready to go. And this auction is one way to do that.
