DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College Foundation generous donors, including John and Kay Shaner, already are pictured on the foundation’s Wall of Honor in the Bremer Conference Center.
Now the theater and gathering place in the conference center also has the Shaner’s namesake in new bold black letters, welcoming the community.
The Shaner’s were honored Thursday in the theater now named after them as the “John and Kay Shaner Theater.” Their $500,000 gift secured the naming rights for the college’s theater.
Kay had a medical emergency and wasn’t able to attend the ceremony.
John said they are deeply proud of the college and community.
Kay, born and raised in Danville, taught more than 30 years, primarily at Garfield Elementary.
