The Eastern Illinois Foodbank has announced plans for two drive-through distributions of free food coming to Vermilion County. The first will occur Saturday, April 25th, from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. at the Georgetown Fairgrounds. And the second will occur Saturday, May 2nd, 2020 at the Ridge Farm Fire Station (at 16 West Woodyard Avenue in Ridge Farm). It will also be from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m.
Although both distributions are scheduled in the southern part of Vermilion County, all county residents who meet income eligibility criteria are welcome. The distribution at the Georgetown Fairgrounds replaces one which had previously been scheduled at the Georgetown Township Building.
The food give-away is part of the Eastern Illinois Foodbank’s response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. The Foodbank is supplying supplemental food to areas of chronic or extreme need. In compliance with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, clients are asked to remain in their vehicle while picking up the food. Make sure there is a space cleared in your trunk or back seat so volunteers can load the food.
