THE FOLLOWING IS A CITY OF DANVILLE RELEASE
Danville, January 22, 2026 – For Immediate Release:
Due to the timing of an approaching snow event and heavy forecasted accumulation, the City of Danville Public Works Department is advising motorists and pedestrians to be alert for hazardous travel conditions from Saturday through Tuesday.
Public Works crews will be actively plowing throughout the storm to provide the safest possible travel conditions. According to current weather forecasts, snow accumulation is expected between noon Saturday and 8:00 p.m. Sunday. During this period, crews will prioritize main arterial roads to ensure access for emergency services. As a result, plow trucks normally assigned to residential routes may be reassigned, which could delay residential plowing.
The City asks for residents’ patience as crews focus on keeping high-traffic and emergency routes passable. Residents can assist plow operations by avoiding on-street parking when possible and by removing athletic equipment, such as basketball hoops, from roadways prior to the storm.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use extreme caution if travel is necessary. While crews will be working continuously, road conditions may deteriorate during periods of heavy snowfall and rapid accumulation.
Once snowfall ends, City of Danville plow crews will continue working through the night and into the following week to clear roadways as quickly as possible. However, additional hazards may persist as temperatures drop. Due to expected low temperatures, salt may be less effective, and some roads may remain snow-covered into the workweek. In these conditions, crews will deploy grit for traction where appropriate.
During the storm and into the Monday and Tuesday commutes, residents should plan for slower travel and reduced traction, as some roadways may not be fully clear of snow and ice. The City of Danville Public Works Department remains prepared and committed to providing the safest road conditions possible during this potentially heavy snow event. Emergency response agencies are coordinating closely with plow crews and will request assistance as needed.
