THE FOLLOWING IS A UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS EXTENSION RELEASE
DANVILLE, Ill. — Home gardeners ready to transform their yards into thriving habitats for birds, bees and butterflies are invited to participate in the Native Landscape Design Drawing Workshop hosted by University of Illinois Extension.
This hands-on program guides participants through redesigning a garden space in their own yards using Illinois-native plants. The workshop focuses on creating beautiful, sustainable landscapes that support local pollinators.
Upon registration, participants will receive access to a pre-recorded one-hour presentation that serves as a prerequisite for the in-person workshop. The session introduces key design principles and native plant concepts that will be reviewed and applied during the hands-on class.
During the in-person workshop, attendees will draft a personalized garden layout, select plants from curated palettes of native species, and develop a sustainable planting plan tailored to their space.
The workshop will be offered on April 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Vermilion County Extension Office and is ideal for homeowners, hobby gardeners, and anyone interested in sustainable landscaping practices.
