THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE RELEASE
On April 2, 2026, at approximately 10:34 p.m., Danville Police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of E. Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue for traffic violations. The driver failed to stop, leading officers on a pursuit through multiple city streets.
During the pursuit, items were discarded from the vehicle. Officers later recovered suspected illegal narcotics, including cocaine, ecstasy, and cannabis, along with an alcoholic beverage. The pursuit ended in the area of English and Jackson Streets, where the vehicle was safely stopped with the
assistance of the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department.
The driver, identified as 39-year-old Demitruis T.D. Davis, was taken into custody without incident. A search revealed a large amount of U.S. currency. The vehicle was impounded pending further investigation.
Davis was issued multiple citations and is facing charges including delivery of methamphetamine, delivery of cocaine, delivery of cannabis, aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police, and driving while license revoked.
No injuries to the public, officers, or damage to vehicles were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
