Danville’s Alderman Jaleel Jones confirmed for CIMG during a break in Tuesday night’s (Apr 7th) Danville City Council meeting that a press release from the Paris, Illinois Police Department about a Friday, April 3rd attack in White Oaks Park was about an attack on he and his two brothers while they were fishing. Although saying very little because there is an investigation in progress; Jones said all are okay, but it was most important to keep this from happening to anyone else.
AUDIO: There’s not a lot to say until we catch the people, the assaultants that did that to us. But it’s a scary and unbelievable thing that happened that I wouldn’t want to happen to anybody else. There’s still evil out that here in this world that we can’t hide from, but we need to learn how to protect ourselves and protect our loved ones.
During the Public Comment portion of Tuesday’s City Council meeting, resident Deonta Brooks, without mentioning any specific place, addressed the topic of so-called “sundown towns” still being in existence in Illinois.
AUDIO: We are still not together as a community. There’s still pockets throughout Illinois where people are not safe. And we need to expose those places so we can be a united Illinois, and a united people.
The press release stated that the Friday attack occurred around 11:36 PM.
