THE FOLLOWING IS A CITY OF DANVILLE RELEASE
The City of Danville and Trees for Danville Arbor Day celebration will be held at Liberty Park on April 24th at 4:00 PM.
The City of Danville, in partnership with Trees for Danville, was awarded a $1 million grant from the Inflation Reduction Act and the USDA Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry Program. This grant represents the highest municipal award in Illinois, paving the way for the launch of our innovative program, Community Roots: Danville’s Urban Reforestation and Revitalization Plan.
This initiative is designed to enhance tree canopy coverage in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, develop comprehensive maintenance plans, create a detailed tree inventory map, and establish educational programs that highlight the essential role trees play in our community’s well-being.

USDA and the City of Danville are equal opportunity providers and employers.
To celebrate this remarkable achievement and the bright future of our urban forestry efforts, we invite families and nature enthusiasts to join us for an Arbor Day celebration held at Liberty Park on April 24th at 4:00 PM. Attendees will also enjoy a hands-on tree planting demonstration, followed by the planting of new trees throughout Liberty Park. We invite families and community members of all ages to take part. Plant a tree, learn how to care for it, and watch it grow as part of Danville’s expanding urban canopy.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Trees for Danville and the USDA Forest Service for making this vital program possible in Danville.
