As we begin the new year, we are hopeful for the continued success of our Learning Center. Our goal is to have five tutors and ten students. We continue to look for new opportunities to attract additional tutors and of course students. These are paid positions based on experience. If you are aware of a child struggling with Dyslexia, please have their family reach out to us as well, contact@danvilledyslexiacenter.org We provide tutoring at no cost for the child or their families. A little history for your perusal. The 32nd Degree, Masonic Learning Center for Children Program, was established in the Northern Masonic jurisdiction in 1994. There are centers operating in these 15 states, six in Illinois. Since 1994 our Children’s Dyslexia Centers have changed the lives of 16,000 children and trained over 4,200 educators. The Children’s Dyslexia Center of East Central Illinois (in Danville) was the 59th center opened. Our center opened its doors in February of 2008, and we have graduated almost 100 students. There are a 28-week academic program and a 6-week summer session. Each child receives 2 hours of training a week. This is usually a 2-year commitment made by the students and their families. The tutoring program consists of individualized instruction based on the Orton-Gillingham Method.
We operate with a budget of approximately $120,000 per year. All operating income is derived from donations from the community and fundraising by our Board of Governors. Our largest fundraising efforts are our Chicken and Noodle Dinner in the Spring, and the Steak, Cigar, and Burbon event in the Fall.
Our Chicken and Noodle Dinner will be held on April 27, 2026, with meals available from 11:00am until 7:00pm. Cost will be $12 for adults and $6 for children (ages 2- 6).
