A Chicago woman is facing multiple charges after her vehicle slammed into an Indiana State Police squad car in Vermillion County on Saturday. Indiana State Police Master Trooper Chuck Murphy was conducting a traffic stop on State Road 63 near County Road 100 South when his squad car was struck.
There were no injuries, but 66-year-old Carmen Thornton of Chicago is facing multiple charges in connection with the crash. They include Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Legend Drug, and Reckless Driving.
All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in court.
The crash happened at about 2:30 Saturday afternoon.
