THE FOLLOWING IS A PROJECT SUCCESS OF VERMILION COUNTY RELEASE
In response to a series of shootings over the weekend that left seven individuals injured and one life lost, The Violence Prevention Coalition of Vermilion County and Project Success are organizing an emergency community meeting to bring residents together for support, healing, and coordinated action.
The meeting will take place on:
Thursday, May 7
6:30 PM
Laura Lee Fellowship 212 E. Williams; in Danville, Illinois
This community forum is open to all residents and will provide space to acknowledge the impact of recent violence, share concerns, and connect individuals and families with critical resources.
The Violence Prevention Coalition of Vermilion County and Project Success are calling on community leaders, local organizations, service providers, and faith leaders to attend and participate in this effort.
Organizations that provide services in areas such as violence prevention, mental health, youth support, victim services, employment, housing, and family assistance are strongly encouraged to be present and share available resources.
“This moment requires the full strength of our community,” said Jamie Nightlinger, Violence Prevention/Family Outreach Coordinator with Project Success. “Our families are grieving and our young people are impacted. We are coming together not just to speak about the violence, but to bring real support and resources into the room.”
The meeting will include:
● Open community dialogue
● Opportunities for residents to speak
● Resource tables from local organizations and providers
● Support services for individuals and families impacted by violence
Community members who wish to speak or organizations that would like to provide resources are encouraged to reach out in advance.
