THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE RELEASE
DANVILLE – Danville Area Community College students Breanna Bolser and Leonidas “Leo” Hamza have been named to the 2026 Phi Theta Kappa All-Illinois Academic Team, one of the state’s highest honors for community college students.
The students were recognized during the annual All-Illinois Academic Team Banquet held in Springfield, Illinois, celebrating top-performing scholars from community colleges across the state.
Sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, the All-Illinois Academic Team recognizes students for outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service. Selection to the team is highly competitive. Students must maintain a grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0 while completing at least 32 cumulative college credit hours.
Breanna Bolser, of Oakwood, Illinois, is majoring in Zoology. Leonidas Hamza, of Champaign, Illinois, is pursuing studies in Psychology, Social Work, Herbology, and Juris Doctor preparation.
Both students are members of the Pi Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Danville Area Community College and were also recognized during the College’s Spring 2026 PTK Induction Ceremony held April 14.
“Recognition at the state level reflects not only academic excellence, but also leadership, determination, and a commitment to serving others,” said PTK advisors Professors Ronnie Johnson and Collin Wright. “Breanna and Leo represent the very best of DACC and the opportunities available through community college education.”
Phi Theta Kappa membership recognizes students who excel academically while encouraging leadership development, scholarship, fellowship, and service. At DACC, members of the Pi Omega Chapter are active in community outreach projects, leadership conferences, and campus initiatives designed to strengthen both the College and the surrounding community.
Phi Theta Kappa is the premier international honor society recognizing the academic achievements of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them grow as scholars and leaders.
