THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE RELEASE
DANVILLE – The Pi Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Danville Area Community College welcomed 31 new members during its Spring 2026 Induction Ceremony held April 14 in the Bremer Theater. The ceremony celebrated the academic accomplishments, leadership, and service of DACC students who have demonstrated excellence in the classroom and commitment to their communities.
To become eligible for Phi Theta Kappa membership, students must complete at least 12 cumulative college credit hours and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
This year’s keynote speaker was Mr. Joe Holden, who encouraged students to continue pursuing academic and personal excellence as they move forward in their educational journeys.

Also recognized during the ceremony were DACC students Leonidas Hamza and Breanna Bolser, members of the 2026 All-Illinois Academic Team. The All-Illinois Academic Team honors high-achieving community college students for outstanding academic performance, leadership, and service.
The induction ceremony was led by members of the Pi Omega Chapter leadership team, including Chapter President Leonidas “Leo” Hamza, Chapter Vice President Mahogany Cole, Chapter Officer Isabella Howe, and Breanna Bolser.
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year colleges, recognizing academic achievement and providing opportunities for leadership development, scholarship, service, and fellowship. Since its founding in 1918, PTK has recognized the success of community college students across the United States and internationally.
Pi Omega Chapter sponsors at DACC are Professors Ronnie Johnson and Collin Wright. Through fundraising and support from the College and community, chapter members are able to participate in regional and national PTK conferences, leadership experiences, and community service initiatives.
In addition to academic recognition, members of DACC’s Pi Omega Chapter actively engage in volunteer and service activities throughout the community, reflecting the organization’s commitment to scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship.
