With Balloons Over Vermilion’s debut at Kennekuk County Park coming up June 5th and 6th, D102’s Tommy B recently talked about it in the studio with Donna Carlton-Vish and Amanda Callahan.
Carlton-Vish talked about an attraction at BOV where families can see a hot air balloon really close-up; and take some special pictures while they’re at it.
AUDIO: We have a cold air balloon that we will inflate on its side. And you can go inside it; you can touch it, feel it; you can roll around in it. We have beach balls that sometimes kids bat around, and play games and so on and so forth. We have a lot of families that come and take a family photo inside the balloon.
And would you like to REALLY get involved and become a hot air balloon crew person? Amanda Callahan is known as the official “crew wrangler.” And she’s looking for volunteers to help with the Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday evening flights.
AUDIO: My job is to make sure that all of our pilots, the local pilots and the out of town pilots, have crew to help them get up in the air. And like you said; set up the balloon safely, get it off the ground, follow the balloon through town; “chase the balloon” is what they call it…..
