THE FOLLOWING IS AN ILLINOIS HOUSE REPUBLICAN CAUCUS RELEASE
Illinois House Bill 4471 which seeks to restrict the manufacture, sale, and transfer of semiautomatic “convertible pistols” that can be easily altered into fully automatic machine guns using aftermarket switches, was given approval in the House Gun Violence Committee Wednesday afternoon. The bill will now head to the full House with anticipation that the bill will be passed.
State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dietrich) argued against the Glock ban during debate in committee on Wednesday saying everyone wants to get rid of gun violence but lawmakers continue to go after the law-abiding gun owner instead of the criminals.
Again, the bill now heads to the full House and if approved, on to the Senate. If passed, the measure could face legal challenges from gun rights organizations, similar to lawsuits filed over previous state gun regulations.
