This Friday and Saturday, June 5th and 6th, will be Balloons Over Vermilion’s first ever appearance at Kennekuk County Park. But one thing that will be staying absolutely the same this year is the annual “Splash and Dash,” once again happening the day before Balloons Over Vermilion begins at the Danville Boat Club.
So this Thursday, June 4th, ten balloonists are already scheduled to compete; with others expected to join them. The Danville Boat Club’s Jack Antonini recent explained the schedule on Tommy B’s “The Big Show” on D102.

?
AUDIO: Gates open at the Danville Boat Club at 4:30. We have kids games; so that’s a good way to spend some time while you’re waiting on the balloons. We have an ice cream truck, Paw Paw Pete’s; we’re going to have live music on top of the boathouse, which is the Tom Grassman Band. We have food being served. There’s pulled pork, hot dogs, sides.
Antonini also explained that if you really want to see which balloonist hits the mark; the Danville Boat Club is your best bet.
AUDIO: (It’s) front row seats, because we put the target right out in the lake; right in front of The Boat Club. So, if you want to see it and have a good view, come to The Boat Club on Thursday.
In addition, the annual calcutta, giving the public a chance to bet on which balloonist will come closest to the “big X” in Lake Vermilion when they drop their floating “rubber ducky” devices; is set for Tuesday, June 2nd; with the actual calcutta at 6:30 PM, and dinner beforehand at 5:30 PM.
