ABOVE: Steven Broadway at Tuesday Danville City Council meeting.
He’s a realtor by trade, but Steve Broadway has a daughter who became an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts. And now, Broadway is looking to start a girls’ Boy Scout Troop in Vermilion County. As he told CIMG prior to Tuesday evening’s Danville City Council meeting; he has a meeting place arranged. But he needs those interested to get the paperwork in, and hopefully get things going by mid-August.
AUDIO: When my daughter got here, she had to drive all the way to Urbana for a female troop. So, we need one here in Danville. We’ll be meeting at the American Legion over on Prospect, every Thursday night, 6 to 7:30 PM. I need adult leaders and committee members. We’ve got to get them to call in, pre-register, give me their name and information. We would set up a meeting date where the Council would come out; actually sign them up on the applications; collect their money, it does cost $85 for the year; and then they’re officially in.
Broadway says he saw lots of interest when he spoke at area middle schools. Just call 386-868-9587; or e-mail to troop1022danville@gmail.com.
