Although the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, citizens are now able to get out and enjoy a select number of Illinois state parks and recreation areas.
Kickapoo State Park northwest of Danville is one of the areas that have partially re-opened, and fishermen lined up to try their luck at Long Pond.

(A crowd was on hand Friday, May 1, 2020 at Kickapoo State Park’s Long Pond.)
Some restrictions remain in place. Visitors are allowed to view wildlife, hike, fish, and go biking, but campgrounds, playgrounds and concessions remain closed. And no shelter reservations are being accepted at this time until further notice.
Some area golf courses are also re-opening with restrictions after being shutdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
