Raise a Glass, Raise the Curtain
DANVILLE, Ill. — The Historic Fischer Theatre invites the community to an unforgettable evening celebrating the arts, history, and the future of one of Danville’s most treasured landmarks during Raise a Glass, Raise the Curtain on Saturday, August 15 at the Historic Fischer Theatre, 158 N. Vermilion Street in downtown Danville.
This one-of-a-kind fundraising event will support the next phase of restoration at the Fischer Theatre, the renovation of the historic basement beneath the stage.
The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. with a cocktail hour in the theatre lobby featuring a tasting of six carefully selected wines, delicious hors d’oeuvres by Bresee Bar and Grill, and an intimate acoustic performance by Tod McClure. Guests will also enjoy an exclusive preview of the basement renovation plans and learn how the project will expand opportunities for the community. Additional wine will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
At 8:00 p.m., the curtain rises on a dynamic variety show showcasing an incredible lineup of local talent and unique entertainment, including:
• The Grand Reveal of the Historic Fischer Theatre’s New Pre-Show Reel
• KottrGrimm Theatrical Storytellers
• Danville’s Got Talent Champion Gavin Baugh Performance
• Danville Light Opera
• Tod McClure Acoustic Performance
• A live speed painting performance by nationally recognized artist John Jansky
Each performance has been selected to celebrate the creativity, artistry, and community spirit that have made the Fischer Theatre a cultural centerpiece for generations.
Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction, featuring unique experiences, artwork, and specialty items donated by generous local businesses and supporters.
“Raise a Glass, Raise the Curtain is about more than an evening of entertainment,” said Ashton Greer, Executive Director of the Historic Fischer Theatre. “It is an opportunity for our community to invest in the next chapter of the Fischer’s story. Every ticket purchased helps preserve this historic landmark while creating new spaces that will serve artists, students, and audiences for generations to come.”
Tickets are $50 per person and include the wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, and admission to the variety show.

The Historic Fischer Theatre is owned and operated by the Vermilion Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving one of Illinois’ most iconic historic theatres while enriching the community through exceptional arts, entertainment, education, and historic preservation.
