DANVILLE, IL — Due to the weather forecast, tomorrow’s dedication ceremony for Vicki Haugen Way has been moved indoors to Danville City Hall, 17 W. Main Street. The ceremony will still take place Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 9:30 AM, and remains free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to arrive by 9:15 AM to be seated before the ceremony begins.
The ceremony will celebrate the dedication of Vicki Haugen Way at the corner of North and Walnut — a lasting tribute to the woman who guided Vermilion County’s economic development for 38 remarkable years, until her passing in February 2020. The honorary designation was established by ordinance of the City of Danville, the result of a grassroots movement that has been long in the making, with proud support from Vermilion Advantage.
The program will open at 9:30 AM with master of ceremonies Mike Hulvey, followed by the national anthem performed by a Danville High School vocalist, remarks from dignitaries including the Mayor of Danville, a tribute from Vicki’s family, and the unveiling of one of the official Vicki Haugen Way street signs, which will then be installed at the corner of North and Walnut.
“Our community is going to celebrate Vicki Haugen the way she deserves. We’re confident our members — and Vicki’s friends, colleagues, and family — will be there rain or shine, and we’re grateful to the City of Danville for opening its doors to us,” said Amy Brown, President and CEO of Vermilion Advantage.
