THE FOLLOWING IS AN ILLINOIS HOUSE REPUBLICAN CAUCUS RELEASE
Members of an Illinois House of Representatives special investigating committee met today in Springfield to begin their investigation of Representative Carol Ammons (D-Urbana) following her federal indictment for wire fraud and obstruction charges in July.
Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dietrich) is serving on the committee and gave opening remarks during the proceedings.
The committee unanimously voted that before proceeding further into gathering information, to consult with the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois, Greg Gilmore, to avoid taking any action that he would consider an interference with an ongoing federal investigation.
